.

.A work of art contains its verifications in itself; artificial, strained concepts do not with stand the test of being turned into images;they fall to pieces,turn out to be sickly and pale, convince no one. Works which draw on truth and present it to us in live and concentrated form grip us, compellingly involve us, and no one ever, not even ages hence, will come forth to refute them.

Introduction to New Zealand Art Sponsored by PRAC in 2006

One from the Archives of PRAC

These are some images of a show by Artist Adrian Thornton that was sponsored by PRAC in 2006, entitled 'An introduction to New Zealand Art'
All the art works were stencil cut spray paints of famous New Zealand art works.

In Solidarity of MAY DAY Workers Rights!!

In Solidarity of MAY DAY !
Here are some PARC sponsored political propaganda posters.
These were plastered all over Hastings during the weekend, good street work from our activist comrades. The cut and paste Lions were a nice touch, keeping people informed while making the city more beautiful, two great services to the community at once.

I see that the posters and Lion cut and pastes put outside the Opera house cafe were quickly taken down by them, pretty sad effort on their part I think.

This poster below is outside the Craig Foss National offices, he he he!
Sound track for this action (so I am told);
New york contempary 5, live at jazzhus montmartre 1963 (it's a goodie)

Rugby and Art

Rugby & Art
Here you see art and rugby mixing seamlessly, probably for the first time ever.

In the photo below Fanes 'Yellow Tiki' hangs on a fence, over looking a local game in Camberly.
The mainly Mongrel Mob supporters you can see in the back ground are in for a real treat, after the game as they make their way back to their cars, they will come across this free art from PRAC's Freedom Art Project , who knows whose house these will end up in?

My favorite bus stop in Camberly, back again puttin out the Art.
Below you can see the Freedom Art/Propaganda bike kit.
This includes;
Coat hangers
drawing pins
string
glue paste and brush
t shirts
Art work
Propaganda posters
MP3 with motivational music

Sound track to this action;
die like a dog - Peter Brötzmann, Toshinori Kondo, William Parker, Hamid Drake

Its a hard core listen, but then Camberly is pretty hard core to.

Flaxmere gets Freedom arts

FREEDOM ARTS IN FLAXMERE
Here is some of Fanes Art being released into the community as part of the PRAC
Freedom Arts Project.

Flaxmere Park.

Some bus stop.

This is hanging on the fence of Flaxmere College, pretty serious fence for a school.

Sound track for this action; Uncle Wiggly, There was a Elk.

Climb like the Cannibal

Climb Like The Cannibal (Eddie Merckx)
Here is a new stencil I spotted while out on a ride in the country the other day.
Nicely placed in the middle of a good climb, just at the right time to inspire the rider who sees it to effortlessly, and with loads of style, glide gracefully up to the summit.

Well that's the idea (so I am told).

Merckx, nick named 'The Cannibal' because he won everything he wanted to in his time.
Stencil looks pretty good here, even sprayed on the rough road surface.
